Applying for a Visa to the Ukraine
Obtaining a Tourist Visa to enter the Ukraine has become much easier since independence was gained from the former USSR.
A visa application can be made through your travel agent or websites of Ukrainian consulates and embassies abroad. We will be happy to offer any advice or assistance with your Visa application.
If you are travelling to the Ukraine for a Romantic Tour you will require a Tourist Visa, which does not include study, residing or work.
Tourist Visa Exemptions
Citizens from the following countries do not need a Tourist Visa if their visit does not exceed 90 days (and does not include study, residing or work):
USA, Canada, Japan, EU nations (including United Kingdom), Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Vatican, Iceland, Monaco, Norway, San Marino, Mongolia, Lithuania and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (except Turkmenistan)
Citizens from these countries must have:
- A Passport which is valid for 6 months beyond the intended travel date and
- Tickets and Documents for return or onward travel
Citizens from all other countries require a Tourist Visa
Tourist Visa
Ukrainian Tourist visas are issued for either a single entry or for double/multiple entries.
Single Entry Visa
This allows a maximum permitted stay of 90 days within a six-month period. This means that you can only visit the Ukraine once for a maximum period of 90 days each 6 months.
Double or Multiple entry Visa
These are valid for two or more 90 day maximum entries within a 12 month period.

Ukraine visa application forms can be downloaded in PDF format.
You will need to mail to the embassy or consulate:
- your passport (original, not a copy)
- one completed application form printed or written in block letters in black ink.
- a self-addressed prepaid express envelope. They accept only mail delivered by FedEx and Express Mail couriers, so don't send your application by regular mail. You'll need to enclose a self-addressed express envelope "prepaid by the account number" — for them to send your documents back to you.
- one recent passport-size colour photograph.
- a money order made out to the embassy or consulate for the sum shown on the websites as the "application fee."
- unless you are requesting a single-entry visa (which requires no additional payment), a second money order for the sum shown on the websites. This is called the "visa fee."
- if you are not a U.S., E.U., Canadian, or Japanese citizen, you will probably need a letter of invitation. Check with the Ukrainian consulate in your country or contact the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ukraine Brides Agency can arrange your letter of invitation for you.
Processing Time
Normal processing time is two weeks. Higher fees apply to urgent applications. Visas fees are non-refundable if the application is rejected by the embassy for incomplete or incorrect data.
Note: You cannot get a Ukrainian visa in Ukraine, even if you have come to Ukraine without a visa as a citizen of one of the visa-free countries. You can only extend your existing Visa. You must leave the Ukraine and apply for a visa at any Ukrainian consulate abroad.
Note: This information is for general purposes only. Please always check the latest information regarding visas with the Ukrainian Consulate website.
