A Typical Good News Story

This is a typical good news story from Graham from England who has just returned from a Romantic Tour to meet his special lady, Zinaida. Graham sent me a thank you email which I wanted to share with you.

When I asked if I could send the email to all members, he sent another email which follows the first email below;

Hi Keith,

I would just like to drop you a quick email to express my thanks to all involved in my trip to meet Zinaida in the Ukraine.

All was virtually perfect.
We are well on the way to being very close now.
Tears on departure and all that.

So you can see how helpful you guys have been to us both and our future together.

I would like to extend my thanks to our young and lovely interpreter, who was a very special person indeed, and extremely pleasant at all times.
We behaved virtually as a three-some, which was not as you first think. I mean we got on like old friends.
So much so that I think Zinaida has a new friend too now in Nadia.
She was actually invited to come with us, when not really needed.
Zinaida’s English is very good and Nadia was only as back-up support for her confidence!
So all went very well in my opinion, bar a couple of minor hick-ups. None of which are worth a mention here.

We went to see a Rachmaninoff concert in Lugansk (very sophisticated!!!) amongst other things we could cram-in, in just a single week!

Suffice to say, I will be going back as soon as work commitments permit, and she will be coming here too in the near future. Dead easy for me with no visa requirements for us UK fellows.

So we both would like to thank you, and all the staff you have engaged on our behalf.

Zinaida and I are in constant communication now, and she is just perfect. When I say perfect, I really mean it.
So fingers crossed all goes well.

Do I need a visa to visit the Ukraine?

Do I need a visa to visit the Ukraine? Actually the not so simple answer is yes and no.

No matter which country you are from, you must have at least 6 months on your passport before expiry when you enter the Ukraine.

If you are a citizen of USA, UK, an EU nation of one of the many former Soviet States you don’t need a visa if you visit the Ukraine for 90 days or less as a tourist. But you can only do this once every 6 months.

If you want to stay for more than 90 days, or you want to visit more regularly than 6 monthly, or you want to study or work, you need a visa. If you are a citizen of any other country, you need a visa for any visit.

And – if you are I the Ukraine and your visa is due to expire and you want to extend it ………..you can’t. You can only apply for a visa from a foreign Consulate or Embassy which means you must go home, apply for an extension (which in effect becomes a new Visa) and then go back.

The moral of all of this... know your requirements according to your citizenship. Know how long you want to stay for and apply for the visa. You need your passport no matter where you are from when you enter the Ukraine.

How to tell if a Ukraine dating agency is legitimate

You look at an online dating agency website that you have found and these gorgeous young ladies (babes) flash before your eyes in a seemingly never-ending procession. They are only 25 yet they say that they are interested in men up to 50 and older. You think “wow”! – but then you think “hold it – this can’t be real”.

You have heard the stories that the Ukrainian ladies can be very beautiful and that there are also many beliefs that they are very calculating and that the entire dating and marriage industries are a scam for them to take advantage of unwitting men – like me. If I start to write to this Goddess I will be swept away in a middle-age dream while my money is sucked away from under my nose.

Yes there are sites out there where this can/does happen. There are ways to search these sites out and avoid them. Here are some methods and tell-tale signs:

Can you find the contact details of the owner? Preferably telephone and on-line chat details.
Are your questions answered?
Does the lady ask you for money?
Can you talk with her by on-line chat?
Has she cancelled her on-line chat appointments?
Have you checked one of the Agency Scam websites?
Do they display a Web Scam approved logo?
Are they IMBRA compliant?
Are the pricing options easy to find?
Is there a mixture of ladies age ranges?

If you are in doubt write to the owner. If he does not answer, move to another site.

Why do Ukrainian women seek husbands abroad?

There is a myth that life in the Ukraine is very grim and that women seek a foreign husband as a ticket out of there.

I have been to the Ukraine a number of times and it is a very beautiful country. The architecture must be seen to be believed, the culture, the music, the opera and ballet, the restaurants, the forests, the people, the beautiful summers and the even more beautiful winters ……… it is a lovely place to live.

Sure there are problems, but what country is free of problems? Even the Vatican City is fighting off corruption and cover up charges as I type.

Family life is very strong in Ukraine, much stronger than in Western countries. I have seen the devotion from daughter to mother. I have seen the pride in a mothers eyes. I have seen the whole family singing with all their heart together – believe it or not it was Tom Jones’ Delilah!

Sadly, Ukrainian men fall far short of the standards set by Ukrainian women.

Where Ukrainian women take immense pride in their appearance and never look scruffy, work hard and hold the family and home together, the men are quite the opposite (generalization – but quite accurate).

Ukrainian men tend to be lazy; they don’t want to work. They drink heavily and they smoke. They avoid responsibility.
Where Western men may play ball with their son or take their daughter to swimming classes, this does not happen in Ukraine. The women does her best to keep the family and home functioning.

Often this is in vain for the women. The number of women far outweighs the number of men – a result of wars and the shorter life span of men; women live to 72 on average yet men live to only 60. This means that there are many many single women so men can move on when they tire of the responsibility of family life.

Why do Ukrainian women seek a foreign husband? Because they want true love, a strong family and commitment. These are values that Western men have that Ukraine men don’t.

Of course it is safe to use a Ukrainian marriage agency! Well it is safe to use this one – I can’t speak for the others.

Think about it; you go into a bar in your home town and you see a lady that interests you. You approach her and try the long trusted lines to get her interested. You buy her a drink or two, talk for a few hours and call her the next day, or say hello when you both wake up!

What do you really know about her? She looks OK and seems alright. As you see more of her she talks a little more about herself and quite a bit of baggage is there; still getting over her last man, going through a messy divorce, he is still turning up unexpectedly…

That is the way it has been done for many years, your father did it, all your brothers and now you. A bit like roulette?

I hate the term ‘mail order brides’ – I find it offensive. Sounds like something you send away for and pay for with a credit card and get 2 free knives. You won’t find the term ‘mail order brides’ mentioned on our site (other than in this blog post).

It is such a pity that beautiful Ukrainian women looking to meet someone through a genuine international marriage agency get tarred with the same brush as the women on mail order bride sites and porn sites.

The ladies on our site are real Ukraine brides wanting to meet someone special, and who have been vetted and interviewed by each local office of our international marriage agency. They are beautiful inside and outside and they all have unique personalities and characteristics. Nearly all of them are well educated and have responsible jobs.

They seek genuine love and caring from a special man and they are prepared to take the risk and leave their family behind and relocate to another country, with different cultures. This takes guts – real brave stuff. Would you do it?

A serious international marriage agency site or online dating for single Ukrainian women recognizes the trust and belief that these ladies place in them and they treat the ladies with respect. Their safety must be maintained until the lady is happy to pass on her details to her special man.

Any site that refers to its single Ukrainian women as mail order brides does not deserve to have these beautiful Ukrainian women listing with them. Why is a a Ukraine bride considered “better” than a Western bride?

It is very common for me to receive emails from men saying that we only choose beautiful Ukrainian women for our site and that they are a lure for the unsuspecting.

I try to explain to them that it is not a marketing ploy. Many Ukrainian women are absolutely stunning and all the ladies on the site are real. If you read their profiles you will find that many of them have children and work in business from dancers to librarians, doctors to economists.

They are very feminine and love to be treated as a woman. They put in considerable effort to look their best at all times and like to be told that they are beautiful. They dress well and look very classy. It really helps if you take the time to compliment them on how they look and don't overlook the effort that they have made.

During my time staying with families I was staggered how family orientated they are. The lady of the house often holds the family together in difficult circumstances The women can bring up children and run the home (and often work as well) while the man is seen as the breadwinner and the hunter/gatherer. She recognizes the traditional roles in the marriage which seems to be disappearing in our society of equal rights. If you are a romantic like I am, you appreciate a relationship just like your grandparents have.

Ukrainian women love to cook and prepare fine meals. They love to play the host and prepare special dinners and entertain – even just for the two of you. As a male, although only a guest in their house, it made me feel quite special.

Finally, they are very loving and loyal. If you treat her the way she deserves to be treated after all of the above, she will look after you like a prince!

What to think of when dating single Ukrainian women

My experience has taught me that Ukrainian women are very different from Western women. The cultures are different and many of their mannerisms can be disturbing to a foreign man until you begin to understand that it is normal for them and that you must recognize this to avoid misunderstandings.

Let me try and explain a few things – I learned the hard way! Fortunately I did not upset anyone so much that I could not repair the damage.

Firstly, Ukrainian women are strong and not as emotional as Western women. They are used to fending for themselves and working their own way through difficulties and a Western man can see this as threatening or her being unwilling to listen. I thought I was just being ignored as every time I tried to help I was ignored.

When I spoke with them (always in English as I can’t speak Ukrainian) I thought that they were rude and abrupt. Then I began to realize that her best English may sound terse and uncaring because she leaves out the “pleases” and “thank you’s”. Even in Ukrainian they do not use these pleasantries as much as we do – it is just not necessary to them.

Conversely, Ukrainian women go to great lengths to look their best at all times and take pride in their appearance. Hence the searches online are very often focused on beautiful Ukrainian women, because even the most average woman in the Ukraine makes the most of her look in whatever way she can.

It is easily overlooked by us Westerners who seldom compliment our women, which may explain why we have to go to the Ukraine to find someone (only joking!). If you really want to impress her, complimenting her on her appearance and say how lovely she looks – and take pride in your own appearance. She wants to show you off to her friends also!

The single Ukrainian women who are dating online or join an international marriage agency seek a loving and long term relationship, this is the main reason they seek Western men as an ideal partner. They do not get treated well by the Ukrainian male and this is what they seek. If you are not looking at long term, you will probably fail in your attempt to win her over.
